The Elements: Custom Kids Experience; winter 2021

2021 is finally here. We know your kids need active, outdoor time with their friends. We also know that our region has an abundance of woods, trails and streams, just waiting for all those little feet to be romping around.

So - let’s do this!

WHO: You gather your kiddo’s pod of pals and we will do the guiding!

• One parent ‘organizer’ registers your child and then invites your kiddos pals

  • 4 kids min/5 kids max per group

    • We have many kids who are needing fresh air and time outside. We ask that you register for a minimum of one or maximum of two custom sessions.

  • The Winter 2021 Custom Sessions will be led by Margaret Rietano (Founder ‘07/Director of Elements) or Fran Barnes (Assistant Director)

WHAT & WHERE:

• HOW LONG: 2 hour sessions/ $85 per child per session

• WHERE: Location will be relayed to group once all have registered:

  • Rock Creek Park Nature Center or Peirce Klingle area or Glover Archbold Park or Montrose park or Little Falls region. . .

• WHAT WE DO: Elements activities and  ideas abound and we will ensure that our time in the woods is fun, active, safe and enriching:

  • EXERCISE:

    • Hikes and exploring 

    • Meadow Games

    • Stream Time

  • CREATES:

    • Let’s Channel our inner Andy Goldsworthy

    • Whittling 

  • BUILD SKILLS:

    • Let’s Get Lost: instincts, maps, compass and smarts 

    • Basics: Bear Bagging, Shelter Building, Tarps 101, Fire lighting and Marshmallow Roasting. . .

  • LINGER;

    • Shinrin Yoku/Forest Bathing; aka quiet time or just chill out and bask in the beauty

  • HOW TO REGISTER:

    • One parent ‘organizer’ registers for the session (go to the yellow button on the upper right side of home page). Once that session is booked, the organizer will receive (hopefully within 24 hours) an email from Margaret with a custom registration code for the organizer to pass along to the other parents of the kids in your pod so that they can register.

    • Got a Sibling Pod that you also want to register at same time and day? Please go ahead and register sibling. That will put him/her on the waitlist but then we will know that you want two Pods for that session. If we can schedule one of our counselors, we will send along the registration code so that your Pods can register for both sections.

    • We will send all registered participants in your group an email with all the logistics details a few days before the session.
